Miserable? Join the club

I've just had an email from someone in public relations that tells me today, January 19, is the most depressing day of the year in the UK.

A psychologist Dr Cliff Arnall, says so, apparently, applying a research formula that takes in to account bad weather, debt, time since Christmas, low motivation and failure to keep up with New Year's resolutions.

Of course it's complete bunkum but it's the kind of spurious research that PR people use to sell stories and it's the stuff the newspapers (and blogs) print when aeroplanes aren't falling in to the Hudson River.

Then again, I could go along with it, only I thought it was yesterday or the day before that. Of course, it could be tomorrow or sometime next week.....
