The breathing Earth

For a graphic representation of recent birth and death rates plus rates of carbon dioxide emissions this is an interesting site.

And if we humans disappear, what traces would we leave behind and for how long? Here's an idea.

Pretty interesting stuff. When they built a new highway in the area I was living some bits of the old, paved, two-lane road were no longer in use. Within a year grass and weeds were growing in the cracks. Within three years young saplings of maple and alder could be seen growing in the widening cracks. Now, well over ten years have gone by, it is hard to pick out the old road bed in the brush growing along the new highway if you don't know where it is.
